Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 13, 2026  ·  Last updated: June 13, 2026

Your privacy matters. We built Just Lecture to help students access quality lecture content. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how it is protected. We do not sell your personal information — ever.

1. Who We Are

Just Lecture ("we," "us," or "our") is an educational Android application that aggregates lecture video content to help students study more effectively. References to "the App" mean the Just Lecture Android application and its supporting backend services.

For privacy-related questions, contact us at: justlectureapp@gmail.com

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to operate and improve Just Lecture:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Data Storage & Security

On your device

Session data (tokens, name, email, phone, category preference, last-played video) is stored in AES-256-GCM encrypted SharedPreferences using the Android Security library. This data never touches unencrypted disk storage. If the encrypted store cannot be initialised (e.g. after a device key corruption), we create a fresh encrypted store — meaning you will need to log in again. We never silently fall back to plaintext storage on disk.

On our servers

Your account data (name, email, phone, course selection) is stored on our backend servers. Our servers use industry-standard practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit.

Video content

Lecture videos are served via YouTube. Our backend acts as a proxy to retrieve video metadata and stream URLs; it does not permanently store video content. Responses are cached briefly for performance and to stay within API rate limits.

5. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they process your data.

Service Purpose Data Shared
Google Sign-In (Google LLC) Authentication Google account ID token; name & email returned to us
YouTube / Google APIs (Google LLC) Lecture video content Video IDs requested; no personal data sent directly to YouTube by the App
Glide (open-source image library) Loading profile pictures Profile picture URL (fetched from Google CDN)

Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy. YouTube's terms are available at youtube.com/t/terms.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

6. Push Notifications

Just Lecture may request permission to send you push notifications. These notifications are used exclusively for study-focus reminders — for example, reminding you to return to a lecture you were watching. We do not send promotional, advertising, or third-party marketing notifications.

You can revoke notification permission at any time in your device's Settings → Apps → Just Lecture → Notifications. Revoking permission does not affect any other app functionality.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account (see Section 8), we will delete your personal data from our servers within 30 days.

Locally stored data on your device (session tokens, cached preferences) is cleared immediately when you log out via the app's Profile screen.

8. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

To exercise any of these rights, email us at justlectureapp@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

Just Lecture is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at justlectureapp@gmail.com and we will promptly delete the information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via a prominent notice within the App or by email.

Continued use of Just Lecture after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
